Northwest Wingless Tour Prepares For Round Five

By Ben Deatherage, Elma, Washington- The Northwest Wingless Tour returns to the venue that began their season back in May at the Grays Harbor Raceway.  It will mark the fifth race of competition for the series in the 2012 calendar on Saturday June 16th.  After a couple of rain outs in June the NWWT have completed the rest of their scheduled events up to this point despite some threatening forecasts on some of those dates.

The previous three races for the series have taken place at the Sunset Speedway Park in Banks.  In those three races there have been three different winners including Bill Winsley, Ryan Bothwell, and Theo McCarty. J.J. Hickle took care of business in the only NWWT event at GHR so far this year.

In the seven NWWT events that have been held at the Grays Harbor Raceway there have been fsix different winners.  Reece Goetz the 2011 Grays Harbor Raceway Midget champion swept the non-wing portion of the Big E weekend last August winning both nights.  Seth Bergman, Jeff Bell, Travis Rilat, Shawn Rice, J.J. Hickle join Goetz as former winners without the wings at the storied facility.

The Northwest Wingless Tour will be paying two more visits to the Grays Harbor Raceway on August 29th and September 22nd.  On the August date the series will be the support class for the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series which will take place on Wednesday of that week.

The Grays Harbor Raceway is known for its high speeds and side by side racing as well as its sheer large size. Hosting regular racing action from April to September with 360 Sprints, USRA Modifieds, USAC Midgets, Hobby Stocks, and Hornets as regular classes. In addition the venue will host the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series and American Sprint Car Series-National Tour.
