Saturday June 1st 2002 Results

(June 1st 2002) Medford, Oregon- On a night when even the promoter took to the race track, Frank Word III
sent word that he¹s still a force to be reckoned with at the Southern Oregon
Speedway.
    Slowed by technical difficulties in recent weeks, Word III won the Les
Schwab Pro Stock feature on Saturday night. Word took the lead about halfway
through the race and went on to claim the feature victory, moving into
second place in the point standings.
    Also Saturday, Dennis Silva took the lead following a yellow flag and
went on to win the main even tin the Littrell Auto Parts Modifieds. Tom
Lanigan was awarded the victory in the Mini Stock feature. Lanigan was on
his way to the win when a lapped car knocked him out of the race just 300
feet from the checkered flag.
    Cale Carder picked up his first-ever win the Sprint Cars to cap off the
regular action for the night. Meanwhile, promoter John Skinner climbed into
action and won a Figure 8 race as part of the track¹s regular Thrill Car
Series.
    Racing continues Saturday night at the Speedway, with gates opening at 4
p.m. and racing getting underway at 6.
